On this site the life of a Medicine Cat is rather different. There is still only one true Medicine Cat allowed per clan, but there can be plenty of 'apprentices who aid them.' In fact, as their jobs are so important, there can be one main Medicine Cat, with TWO apprentices per clan.
On the site, such as in the book, their main job is to cure illnesses. This is important, as some illnesses can be fatal, and only Medicine Cats can work against the timer before they kill their host. Also, most illnesses can be contagious. These cats need to be on their paws at all times, as only they and their apprentices can heal the sick and wounded.
There are two types of illness a cat can receive on site:
Battle Injury - These are scraps, cuts, abrasions, breaks and bruises; and pretty straight forward to treat. For the most part, these can be roleplayed out by the characters themselves, seeking injury, and the cures are immediately know; bind the wounds, give them something for pain, etc. Depending on the severity of the wound, they can be easily treated and healed completely, cause sustained damage for the rest of the cats life, or be untreatable and cause death. The later two will usually be determined by staff intervention.
Mystery Illness - These are a little bit different. From time to time staff may message a Medicine Cat, and infected members, with a list of symptoms they have. Anywhere from coughing, to nausea, phantom pain, numbness, dizziness, etc. Most won't go away without treatment; and some of these diseases may spread quickly. In this case, a Medicine Cat or their apprentices may have a set amount of RL days to treat the infected cat; and it is up to staff discretion if the treatment was in time, was the right treatment, or what have you.
Most of the Medicine Cat's job will also be to gather new plants and herbs. Warriors can help Medicine Cats search, but they cannot do so alone; they must be in the company of Medicine Cats when they are gathering Herbs, or they might bring back poisonous materials. Herbs can be searched for at any time; except Leaf Bare. No plants will be found unless Staff deems it.
Meetings for Medicine Cats and their apprentices will occur on the 15th day of every cycle, lasting for 4 days - just like the regular gathering. Here, they can interact with Staff, as Starclan, recieve messages, and exchange information. While they may recieve Prophecies from time to time, No prophecies are to be had without Staff Permission.
